Jefferson Market and Cakery

Growing up on the Old West Side, I've been going to this establishment for years. As a kid, it was fondly known as Johnnies Market. A husband and wife ran the market for years and I was a patron for all things from jaw breakers to Strawberry Crush. Currently, the market is known as Jefferson Market and Cakery. It's a GREAT place and owner, Mary, is a joy to work with. Be sure to check them out when you're on the Old West Side.

Vacation or Staycation?

With the arrival of a long holiday weekend, what will YOU be doing? 

Are you taking a vacation?  Or, are you staying close to home for a "staycation?" 
Here are some tips for those of you who feel like being a tourist in your own city.



Half of A2 Townies will be on vaca in our beautiful state, while the other hangs out here in town.  Whatever you plan for your holiday have fun and be safe!

German Park!

Tomorrow is the last German Park of the season...will you be there?  A2 Townies sure will!  We've been going for years - picture Laura in a stroller as a wee one enjoying the celebrations!  Flash forward 30 some years forward and she's still loving it!  Great food, good friends, the chicken dance, German dancers, and buckets of beer.  What more could you ask for?

Lovely day in A2!

Enjoyed a walk downtown for Bi Bim Bop from Kosmos in Kerrytown. After lunch, a walk to Treasure Mart and now a beer at Arbor Brewing before walking home (hopefully the rain will hold off!).

St. Patrick's Day

Enjoyed a yummy lunch at Jefferson Market yesterday. Yummy beer cheese muffins! Half and A2 Townies was on the clock, so rootbeer fit the bill until quiting time.
